Estimates, not authority

The figures and results on CheckMyTow are estimates for planning purposes, compiled from manufacturer towing guides and other published sources (see methodology). They depend on the accuracy of those sources and, in the calculators, on the numbers you enter.

Before towing, always confirm the ratings for your specific vehicle on the driver's-side door-jamb certification label and in your owner's manual or the manufacturer's towing guide for your exact year, engine, axle ratio, and package. Where our number and your vehicle's label disagree, your vehicle's label wins.

Never exceed a single rating

Safe towing means staying within every limit at once — max tow rating, GCWR, GVWR, payload, axle ratings, tire ratings, and hitch rating. Exceeding any one of them can affect braking and handling, damage your vehicle, and may void insurance coverage or manufacturer warranty. Weigh your loaded rig at a certified scale (CAT scale) when in doubt.

Not professional advice

Nothing here is legal, mechanical, or insurance advice. For your specific situation, consult your vehicle manufacturer, a qualified mechanic or hitch installer, and your insurer.
